AI is hacking your passwords

How long does it take a hacker to crack your password? With AI (Artificial Intelligence), it’s faster than ever. Gone are the days where 8 characters that include numbers, upper and lowercase letters, and symbols are sufficient. Time to crack that? 5 minutes. Yep, 5 minutes. I have not been the same since I found this out.

Check out the chart below created by Hive Systems. Compare our 5 minute password to a 17-character one made of upper and lowercase letters only. It will currently take AI two billion years to crack that one. (Learn more about the mathematics of hacking passwords in this article from the Scientific American)

I can hear you now. “There is no way I am typing that much every time I log in!” Right there with you. That’s why I use a password locker. It keeps my logins safe and even fills them in for me. Yes, browsers do this too, but a password locker is much safer. If a hacker gets into your computer, it is very easy to steal all your logins from a browser.

I use Keeper as my password locker on all my devices. When I make an update on one device, it propagates to all of them. It even creates passwords for you. The only password you need to remember is the one to get into Keeper. Want to learn more? Give me shout.
